Best Accounting Software in the UAE (E-Invoicing Ready, 2026)
Last reviewed: By Kenobiz Solutions editorial team9 min read
For most small and mid-sized businesses, the best accounting software in the UAE handles 5% VAT and Corporate Tax and can issue e-invoices through an accredited service provider (ASP) before your deadline. On those criteria, Odoo, Zoho Books and Wafeq all suit freelancers and micro-businesses, TallyPrime suits traders who prefer a one-time licence, Xero suits service firms, and Odoo also covers growing companies that need stock, purchasing and CRM in the same system. Below, eight products are compared on UAE criteria, with AED prices and our pick by profile.
Key facts
- 5% VAT and 9% Corporate Tax on taxable income above AED 375,000 (0% below, Cabinet Decision No. 116 of 2022): your software must support both.
- 31 March 2027: businesses with revenue below AED 50 million must appoint an e-invoicing ASP (go-live 1 July 2027). At AED 50 million or more, the deadline is 30 October 2026.
- Zoho, Tally and Wafeq are accredited ASPs on the Ministry of Finance (MoF) list consulted on 10 October 2026, which has 65 accredited providers. Intuit (QuickBooks), Xero and Sage are not; Xero includes an accredited partner, Casim.
- AED 57 to AED 90 a month (billed annually): entry prices for the Wafeq and Zoho Books plans that include e-invoicing, excluding VAT, checked on 10 October 2026.
- Small Business Relief (revenue up to AED 3 million) does not remove the need to keep books or to issue e-invoices.

What should accounting software in the UAE handle?
Seven things: 5% VAT with a return you can file, Corporate Tax figures, e-invoicing through an accredited ASP, Arabic or bilingual invoices if your customers need them, multi-currency, a link to your UAE bank, and payroll that produces Wage Protection System (WPS) salary files. Most tools handle VAT; the real differences are in the other six.
| Criterion | What to check | What we found (10 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 5% VAT | Tax codes and a VAT return you can file on EmaraTax, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) portal | Covered by Zoho Books (from Standard; the Free plan has no VAT tracking), Wafeq, TallyPrime, Xero, QuickBooks, Odoo and Daftra; for Sage it depends on the product and partner |
| Corporate Tax | Financial statements and taxable-income figures for the annual return | Corporate Tax report in Odoo's UAE localisation; Corporate Tax features in Wafeq (all plans) and Zoho Books (Professional and above); reports in TallyPrime; none found for QuickBooks or Xero |
| E-invoicing | Is the vendor an accredited ASP, or does it connect to one? | Built in: Zoho Books (Professional and above), Wafeq, TallyPrime (with TSS). Through a partner: Xero (Casim). Separate ASP: QuickBooks, Sage. Odoo: see the status box below |
| Arabic | Bilingual English/Arabic invoice layouts | Wafeq, TallyPrime, Zoho Books, Odoo and Daftra; Xero's software is in English (VAT returns are produced in Arabic); Arabic is not listed for QuickBooks |
| Multi-currency | AED alongside USD, EUR or other currencies | Wafeq (all plans), Zoho Books (Professional and above), QuickBooks (Essentials and above), Xero (Premium only), Odoo |
| Bank link | Bank feeds or statement import for your bank | Xero lists local feeds, including Wio and Alaan; for the others, check your own bank |
| Payroll and WPS | Salary information files (SIF) for the Wage Protection System | Odoo Payroll (UAE localisation) and Zoho Payroll, a separate product, generate WPS SIF files; Wafeq (Premium) and TallyPrime have payroll, but WPS file generation was not confirmed; no UAE payroll in QuickBooks or Xero |
Corporate Tax deserves a word. It applies at 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000, every taxable person must register, and the return is due within 9 months of the end of the tax period. If your revenue is AED 3 million or less and you meet the other conditions, you may elect Small Business Relief, now extended to tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029, but you still have to register, file and keep proper books. Software prepares the figures; it does not decide your tax position. For particular cases, ask an FTA-registered tax agent.
E-invoicing is the newest criterion and the one that changes the shortlist most. Our e-invoicing software comparison explains the two routes in detail: either the vendor is itself an accredited ASP, or your software connects to one.

Our eight, at a glance:
- Odoo: from a single freelancer to growing SMEs. Start with invoicing and accounting, then add inventory, purchasing, CRM or several companies in the same database.
- Zoho Books: for freelancers and small businesses, with the ASP built in from the Professional plan.
- Wafeq: best for bilingual UAE and GCC small businesses, with the ASP included in every plan and unlimited users.
- TallyPrime: best one-time licence for traders and accountants used to Tally, with e-invoicing included through TSS (Tally Software Services).
- Xero: best for service firms that work with a Xero accountant, with e-invoicing through Casim included.
- QuickBooks Online: familiar to many foreign-owned companies, but it needs a connector and a separate ASP.
- Daftra: an Arabic-first, all-in-one tool for small retail and service businesses; its ASP claim was not found on the official list.
- Sage: for companies already running Sage 300, Sage X3 or Sage Intacct.
What are the strengths and limits of each product?
Each card below gives the profile the product suits, three strengths, its main limits and how it handles UAE e-invoicing. The limits matter most: plan restrictions (Zoho Books and Wafeq), desktop-first software (TallyPrime), English-only software (Xero), no UAE e-invoicing route (QuickBooks) Odoo's ASP connector until its own accreditation, and a partner-led project (Sage).
Odoo
Expected soon — not listed yetBest for: Freelancers and growing SMEs that need, or will need, more than invoicing — stock, purchasing, CRM, multi-company, e-commerce — in one system.
Strengths
- One database for accounting, inventory, purchasing, sales, CRM, manufacturing and e-commerce
- UAE localisation: VAT return, Corporate Tax report, payroll with WPS (SIF) files; invoices in English, Arabic or both
- Starts with a single user (a freelancer can begin with invoicing and accounting only) and scales to a few hundred; cloud or on-premise
Limits
- Not yet an accredited ASP: connects to an accredited ASP through a connector for now
- Projects that cover several apps, companies or a data migration are best run with an implementation partner
- Several companies in one database and custom developments need the higher plan
Not on the MoF list yet. Connects to an accredited ASP through a connector (third-party connectors exist on the Odoo Apps store).

- Flat price with unlimited users
Limits
- Inventory, payroll and production only on Premium
- Basic inventory and manufacturing compared with an ERP; no CRM or e-commerce

TallyPrime
Accredited ASPBest for: Traders and accountants used to Tally who want a low one-time licence.
Strengths

- Low one-time licence; very large installed base
- Bilingual English/Arabic invoices; unlimited companies
Limits
- Desktop-first; remote access needs a hosted add-on
- TSS renewal needed for updates and e-invoicing (renewal price in AED not published)
- No CRM or e-commerce; UAE e-invoicing launch status to confirm
Tally is itself an accredited ASP; e-invoicing comes with an active TSS subscription on the latest release. Tally's own UAE page still lists the feature as coming — check availability.
Public price (from): AED 2,340 one-time (Silver) · AED 7,020 (Gold, multi-user); annual TSS renewal extra · MoF list of eInvoicing ASPs (consulted 10/10/2026) · Tally MENA buy page (rendered, AED) · Tally Muwafaq annual offer (AED)

- Large accountant community
- VAT tracking on all plans
Limits
- No official UAE e-invoicing path: connector + separate ASP needed
- Arabic invoice language not listed; no UAE Corporate Tax or payroll
- Inventory only from Plus; billed in USD
Intuit is not an accredited ASP and announces no official UAE route; you need a third-party connector and a separate ASP contract (some ASPs, e.g. Casim, say they integrate with QuickBooks).

Not an ASP — needs a connector + ASPBest for: Companies with an existing Sage 300/X3 installation.
Strengths
- Long installed base in the Gulf (Sage 300)
- Multi-entity finance (Intacct), manufacturing (X3)
Limits
- Fragmented product range; depends on partner
- No transparent AED pricing
- No official UAE e-invoicing announcement; relies on third-party connectors
Sage is not an accredited ASP and has published no UAE e-invoicing statement; third-party ASPs sell connectors for Sage 300 and Intacct.
Public price (from): Quote only (Sage Intacct from GBP 1,000/month) · MoF list of eInvoicing ASPs (consulted 10/10/2026) · Sage Middle East products page (rendered) · Sage Intacct UAE page (FAQ price from £1,000/month)
Some details that change the decision:
- Zoho Books: the Free plan is only available while annual revenue is AED 200,000 or less, and neither Free nor Standard includes e-invoicing. Users are capped per plan (3 to 15), with extra users at AED 8–10 a month.
- QuickBooks Online: prices are displayed in AED but billed in USD, and the advertised discount (90% off for six months) applies only to new customers.
- Xero: prices are in USD and rise from 1 November 2026; re-check them before you sign.
- TallyPrime: the "Muwafaq" offer (Silver at AED 702 + VAT a year, Gold at AED 2,106 + VAT a year) is limited to the first 50 registrations each month.
- Sage: the range sold in the Middle East (Sage 300cloud, Sage X3, Sage Intacct) is mostly quote-based; Sage Intacct is advertised from GBP 1,000 a month.
- Daftra: before relying on it for e-invoicing, ask for its ASP entity name and accreditation number, and check them on the MoF list.
How much does accounting software cost in the UAE?
For a small business, accounting software that includes e-invoicing costs roughly AED 700 to AED 1,300 a year at public prices: Wafeq Starter is AED 690 a year and Zoho Books Professional AED 1,080 a year, both billed annually. Costs rise with users, inventory, payroll, e-invoice volume and, for ERPs, implementation.
Three worked examples, using public prices checked on 10 October 2026 (excluding VAT). They are illustrations, not quotes.
| Profile | Option | Year-one cost |
|---|---|---|
| Consultancy, 2 users, about 40 invoices a month, no stock | Wafeq Starter, billed annually | AED 690, e-invoicing included (AED 960 on Plus if you also record supplier bills and purchase orders) |
| Zoho Books Professional, billed annually | AED 1,080 + one 500-transaction pack (AED 185) once the 100 free transactions are used: about AED 1,265 | |
| Xero Standard | USD 600 (USD 50 × 12), e-invoicing through Casim included; Starter's allowance (20 invoices, 5 bills) is too small for this volume | |
| TallyPrime Silver | AED 2,340 (licence + 1 year of TSS), then a yearly TSS renewal | |
| Trading company, 8 users, one warehouse, about 300 invoices a month | Wafeq Premium, billed annually | AED 2,400, with inventory, warehouses, payroll and e-invoicing, unlimited users |
| Zoho Books Premium, billed annually | AED 1,440 + a 5,000-transaction pack (AED 1,500): about AED 2,940; Elite (AED 3,360 a year) if you need several warehouses or batch tracking | |
| TallyPrime Gold | AED 7,020 one-time (multi-user, 1 year of TSS) | |
| Odoo | 8 users × the per-user licence on odoo.com/pricing, plus implementation; see our Odoo pricing guide | |
| Group of three companies | Zoho Books Professional | Priced per organisation: 3 × AED 1,080 = AED 3,240 before transaction packs; no native consolidation found |
| Wafeq Premium | Consolidated statements across organisations on Premium; ask Wafeq how several organisations are billed | |
| Odoo | Several companies in one database on Odoo's higher plan |
The Zoho examples assume each e-invoice you issue uses one transaction; ask Zoho how received invoices and credit notes are counted. Whichever vendor you choose, every accredited ASP must give each customer 100 free e-invoice exchange and reporting services a year (Ministerial Decision No. 168 of 2026). If you need payroll with WPS files, add Zoho Payroll (from AED 35 a month billed annually, including 5 employees) to a Zoho Books budget.
The cheapest year-one price is not always the cheapest three years. When you start adding warehouses, a CRM, payroll and a second company, a per-organisation tool with add-ons can catch up with an ERP. Our Odoo vs Zoho Books comparison works through that three-year logic.
Our pick by profile: which accounting software should you choose?
Match the software to your profile. Freelancers and micro-businesses that mainly invoice can choose Odoo, Zoho Books or Wafeq, or stay with their current accredited software. Tally users can stay on Tally with TSS. Businesses with needs beyond invoicing, up to around 200 users, should look at Odoo. Multi-entity groups need an ERP.
- Freelancer or micro-business that mainly invoices (little or no stock): Odoo (Invoicing and Accounting), Zoho Books Professional or Wafeq Starter/Plus. Zoho and Wafeq are accredited ASPs with public prices; Odoo connects to an accredited ASP and lets you add stock, CRM or e-commerce later in the same database. If your current vendor is already accredited and your books are in order, stay where you are.
- Small business claiming Small Business Relief: you still need books and e-invoicing, so keep it simple: Odoo with Invoicing and Accounting, Zoho Books or Wafeq all fit.
- Trader already on Tally and happy with it: TallyPrime with an active TSS subscription; confirm that e-invoicing is live for your release.
- Service firm whose accountant uses Xero: Xero, with Casim included for e-invoicing, if English-only software and no UAE Corporate Tax feature are acceptable.
- Company whose group already uses QuickBooks: QuickBooks Online can stay, but budget for a connector and a separate ASP contract.
- From a single freelancer to around 200 users, with inventory, purchasing, CRM, multi-company or e-commerce needs, or strong growth: Odoo. Accounting, stock, purchasing, sales and CRM share one database, so you stop re-keying between tools. For a project that covers several apps, work with an implementation partner. See Odoo in the UAE.
- Multi-entity group with complex operations: an ERP. Our guide to the best ERP software in the UAE compares Odoo, SAP Business One, Dynamics 365, NetSuite and others.

How do you switch accounting software before the e-invoicing deadline?
Choose a cut-off date, ideally the start of a VAT period or financial year. Then migrate opening balances and open items, clean your customer and supplier data (TRNs, addresses), appoint your ASP and test before go-live. If your revenue is below AED 50 million, the ASP must be appointed by 31 March 2027.
- Confirm your dates on the UAE e-invoicing deadlines page: appointment and go-live differ by revenue band.
- Pick the cut-off. File the last VAT return from the old system, so each period is reported from one place.
- Clean master data first. Customer TRNs, legal names and addresses feed straight into every e-invoice.
- Migrate what you need: chart of accounts, opening balances, open invoices and bills, and stock quantities if you hold inventory. Full history can stay in read-only exports, provided you keep it for the legal retention period (generally 5 years).
- Appoint the ASP and test with real invoices before your go-live date.
- Train the team. The people who raise invoices change their habits more than the accountant does.
Our e-invoicing implementation checklist details each step, and the readiness check tells you in two minutes where you stand.

Frequently asked questions
Which accounting software is most used in the UAE?
No official statistics on accounting software use in the UAE are published. Vendor figures are usually global; Odoo, for example, is used by hundreds of UAE companies. Choose on fit rather than popularity. The ASP status of the vendor and the features you need (VAT, Corporate Tax, inventory, payroll) matter far more than market share.
What are the top 5 accounting software in the UAE?
On our criteria for small and mid-sized businesses, in alphabetical order: Odoo (from a single freelancer to growing companies that need stock, purchasing and CRM, connected to an accredited ASP), TallyPrime (one-time licence for traders), Wafeq (bilingual, ASP included in every plan), Xero (service firms, e-invoicing through Casim) and Zoho Books (ASP built in from the Professional plan). The right one depends on your size and needs.
Is there free accounting software for UAE businesses?
Zoho Books has a Free plan, but it is limited to one user plus an accountant, up to 1,000 invoices a year and annual revenue of up to AED 200,000, and it includes neither VAT tracking nor e-invoicing. A VAT-registered business, or any business that must issue e-invoices, will need a paid plan from Zoho or another vendor.
What does FTA-accredited accounting software mean?
Xero states that it is listed on the FTA Tax Accounting Software Register. We could not check the FTA website when this page was reviewed, so ask any vendor that claims FTA approval for written proof. For e-invoicing, the list that counts is different: the Ministry of Finance list of accredited e-invoicing service providers (ASPs).
Is my accounting software ready for e-invoicing?
Check three things. Is your vendor, or the partner it names, on the Ministry of Finance list of accredited ASPs? Is e-invoicing live on your plan today, not on a roadmap? And can the software receive supplier e-invoices as well as send them? If any answer is no, plan a connector and a separate ASP, or a change of software, before your deadline.
Do I still need an accountant if I use accounting software?
Software records transactions and prepares figures; it does not take tax positions for you. Many small businesses keep an accountant for year-end accounts and an FTA-registered tax agent for VAT and Corporate Tax questions. The FTA had 806 registered tax agents at the end of September 2026. For particular cases, ask a registered tax agent rather than relying on software defaults.
