Odoo Partner in the UAE: How to Choose the Right One
Last reviewed: By Kenobiz Solutions editorial team6 min read
Choosing an Odoo partner in the UAE comes down to four things: real experience with UAE VAT and e-invoicing in your industry, the people who will actually do the work, a fixed written scope, and what happens after go-live. This checklist gives the 10 questions to ask, the red flags to watch for and the way implementation is priced.
Kenobiz Solutions, an Odoo partner, publishes this site (about us). The checklist below is the one we would give a friend, and it applies to us too.
Key facts
- 2 contracts: licences are billed by Odoo S.A. per user per month; implementation and support are billed by the partner.
- 31 March 2027: businesses below AED 50 million must appoint an accredited e-invoicing ASP, so your project plan must include the connector.
- 10 questions below help you assess any quote on the same basis.
- 3 pricing models: a fixed price, time and materials, or a mix of the two.

What is an Odoo partner?
An Odoo partner is a company approved by Odoo S.A. to sell, implement and support Odoo. The partner analyses your processes, configures the apps, migrates your data, trains your team and supports you after go-live. Odoo S.A. supplies the software and bills the licences; the partner bills its own services.
In the UAE, the partner's job also includes local details that a generic Odoo set-up misses: the UAE fiscal localisation and 5% VAT, the Corporate Tax view of your accounts, bilingual documents, multi-company structures with mainland and free zone entities, and now the e-invoicing connector to an accredited service provider. If you are still deciding whether Odoo is right for you, read our overview of Odoo in the UAE first. If you are planning an upgrade, see what's new in Odoo 20.
What should you ask an Odoo partner before signing?
Ask for UAE references in your industry, who exactly will work on your project, how they handle VAT, e-invoicing and the ASP connector, what the fixed scope includes, how data is migrated, how users are trained, what support costs after go-live, and who owns your database and any custom code. Here are the 10 questions.
- "Can I speak to two UAE customers of a similar size in my industry?" A reference you can call beats a logo on a slide.
- "Who will work on my project, and are they certified on the version you will install?" The person who sells is rarely the person who configures.
- "Can you show UAE VAT and my invoice layout working, on my own invoices?" Include a credit note, a foreign-currency invoice and, if you want it, an English and Arabic layout.
- "Which accredited ASPs and connectors have you put live for e-invoicing, on which Odoo version?" Ask for the names and a live example. Our guide to Odoo e-invoicing in the UAE explains what to check.
- "What exactly is in scope, and what is excluded?" Apps, processes, reports, documents, integrations, number of companies and warehouses.
- "How will you migrate my data, and who cleans it?" From Excel, Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho or an old Odoo: opening balances only, or open items and history too?
- "Is the price fixed, and what happens if the scope changes?" Ask how change requests are priced before you need one.
- "How will you train my team, and in which languages?" Training is where projects succeed or fail. Ask who drives user adoption on your side and theirs.
- "What does support cost after go-live, with which response times, and who handles upgrades?" Get it in writing, including the cost of the next version upgrade.
- "Who owns the database, the admin access and any custom modules?" The answer should be: you do, and you can leave with everything.
What are the red flags when choosing an Odoo partner?
Be wary of a price given before anyone has looked at your processes, a demo that never uses your data, heavy customisation proposed in the first meeting, vague answers on e-invoicing and the ASP connector, no UAE references, and contracts where the partner keeps the admin rights or the custom code. Each one predicts budget overruns.
- A quote before any analysis. A serious fixed price needs at least one working session on your processes and data.
- A generic demo only. If the partner cannot show your own invoice with UAE VAT, ask why.
- Customisation first. Custom modules for things standard Odoo already does make every upgrade more expensive.
- Promises about Odoo's ASP status. Only the official Ministry of Finance list counts. A partner who gives you a firm date is guessing, and your deadline does not depend on it.
- "No fines, guaranteed." Nobody can promise that. A good partner explains what you must do and by when; see the UAE e-invoicing deadlines.
- No local references or time-zone overlap. Remote delivery can work well, but you need someone available during your working hours at go-live.
- Unclear ownership. Admin rights, hosting accounts and custom code registered in the partner's name lock you in.
- A very low daily rate with no estimate. Cheap days without a cap often cost more than a fixed price.
How do Odoo partners price an implementation?
Partners use three models: a fixed price for an agreed scope, time and materials billed by the day or hour, or a mix of the two. Licences are separate and billed by Odoo S.A. per user per month. Whatever the model, insist on a written scope, a timeline and post-go-live support costs.
| Model | How it works | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed price | One price for a written scope | SMEs with a clear scope and a deadline | Change requests are extra, so the scope must be precise |
| Time and materials | You pay the days or hours consumed | Large or evolving projects | The budget can drift: ask for an estimate and a cap |
| Hybrid | Fixed analysis or core set-up, then time and materials for extras | Projects whose scope is unclear at the start | Make sure the fixed part has a clear deliverable |
We do not publish typical AED ranges here, because they depend too much on scope to be useful without context. What makes a project cheap or expensive is explained in our Odoo pricing guide for the UAE: number of apps and users, data migration, customisation, integrations including the ASP connector, and training.
Two practical tips. First, check line by line what the quote includes: without data migration and training, a lower price is not cheaper. Second, ask how the e-invoicing part is planned, including which accredited ASP from the official ASP list is suggested and why. Every accredited ASP must give each customer 100 free e-invoice exchange and reporting services per year; check that this is in the ASP contract.
Whatever you decide, start early: an ERP project and an e-invoicing connector both need testing time before your go-live date. For the steps every business must take, whatever its software, see how to implement UAE e-invoicing, or take the readiness check to see your deadline.

Frequently asked questions
Can I implement Odoo without a partner?
Yes, for a small and standard setup, using Odoo's documentation and tutorials. Companies with stock, several companies, data migration or an e-invoicing connector usually work with a partner, because mistakes in VAT set-up or opening balances are expensive to fix later.
Can I change Odoo partner later?
Usually, yes. Your licences are with Odoo S.A., so another partner can take over. Make sure you hold admin access to your database, a copy of any custom modules and written documentation of what was configured.
How long does an Odoo implementation take?
It depends on scope. A standard setup for a small team is usually counted in weeks; a multi-company project with stock, data migration and integrations in months. Ask for a dated plan with milestones, and schedule e-invoicing tests well before your go-live date.
Should my Odoo partner speak Arabic or French?
Choose the language your users and managers are most comfortable with for training and support. Arabic matters for Arabic-speaking teams; French helps French-speaking owners and finance teams. Ask who will train your users, not only who will sell to you.
